Major David "Logan" Wheatcraft 

I am very pleased to announce that Major David "Logan" Wheatcraft assumed duties as Chief of Staff for Civil Air Patrol's West Virginia Wing on 24 June 2024. Maj. Wheatcraft will lead the Wing's staff in the administrative functioning of the Wing as a whole. He will provide guidance, encouragement and training to Wing staff members as needed, and makes recommendations to the Wing Commander regarding staff composition and qualification.  He will lead the charge on the wing's compliance inspections and will coordinate and host wing meetings and commander update briefings.

As a member of Civil Air Patrol since 2007, Maj. Wheatcraft has progressively grown in the organization. He has served as the West Virginia Wing Director of Information Technology, as well as the Director of Communications. Previously, he served as a Squadron Deputy Commander for Seniors and as a Squadron Commander during the COVID-19 pandemic. In his professional life, he has overseen departments of up to 15 employees. In addition to his command and leadership experience, he has been heavily involved in emergency services operations as a ground team member and leader, an aircrew member, and incident command/mission staff member. Maj. Wheatcraft is also an orientation pilot supporting our cadet program.
